The thing that makes everything else EASIER not HARDER

Kriya

This week in the Everyday Ayurveda course we're talking about the benefits of mediation,

... a habit that’s a little less than easy to adopt.

So I popped into a quick video to share a couple terms that can help
(really when you're trying to implement any new habit):

In Ayurveda, the term

PRAJNAPARADHA

means "crimes against wisdom".

These are the things we do that,
over the long term,
might not be all that beneficial to our physical or emotional well-being.

Like... for example.. maybe that glass of wine you have
every night to help you relax after a long day.

(studies show long term intake of alcohol can lead
to damage to the central nervous system
and the peripheral nervous system resulting in
loss of sexual desire and impotence. dang.)

Now on the other end of the spectrum of our actions is

KRIYA.

This means "taking action that results in your experience of life being easier, not harder"
Sounds a smidge better, yeah?

When we take action from an intention of KRIYA,
we make decisions for the highest good.
We take actions that SERVE our FUTURE SELVES.

One of these things, is mediation.
Which, FYI, has the same immediate benefit on the nervous system as a glass of wine

.... except you get to keep your sex drive ;)

Check out today’s video to hear a quick story about my time in a ten day meditation retreat in Thailand (hint, it was SO FREAKING COOL
…. but also SO FREAKING UNCOMFORTABLE
.)

Have you ever been in this situation? Where there’s something you KNOW you need to be doing in order to find SOME SEMBLANCE OF CALM in your life…. but it just feels so freaking hard?

I get you. And I’ve got your back.
