THIS SURPRISING DETOX FOOD JUST SAVED MY DAY

My Detox is Ruined.

This week I’m in deep detox mode, as part of my seasonal 21 day group detox.

YES - Every. Single. Time I facilitate a detox for others, I do it too.

Ayurveda teaches that detoxing once in the spring and again in the fall is an immensely supportive practice for long term health and vitality. And every time I come to the end of a detox, I can see just how very accurate this theory is.

I’m not missing out on this feeling ever again.

A 21 day Ayurvedic detox basically looks like this:

Week 1 - Dial back on over-eating, processed, packaged, sugars, alcohol, too much social media, emotional vampires… really anything that drains you in the long run.

Week 2 - Choose 3-4 days to eat a VERY simple diet of mung bean and rice stew, and participate in a number of activities to stimulate flushing of toxins from the body, and rebuilding of our tissues. Take a lot of time for silence and restoration of our energy reserves.

Week 3 - Basically repeat week 1, with a focus on how you want your life to look moving forward.

Today, I’m on the final day of the very simple diet protocol. And I ruined my detox.

That’s very honestly how I felt this morning when I reached into the freezer to grab my lunch, only to find the glass jar had shattered from the cold.

And it’s easy to see why. Going into detox, we do a lot of preparation. We think long and hard about how we want to feel moving forward. How we’re ready to feel, instead of how we’ve been feeling. And so a lot of feeling goes into our food preparation.

So when the food doesn’t work out, a LOT of emotions come rolling out. Which make us kind of want to freak out.

It’s EXTREMELY common for my clients to move through a detox, and come to a day (or more than one) where they have not prepared and “don’t know what to eat”.

And today I found myself there. Planned lunch ruined. No back-up. Didn’t know what to eat.

And like many many members of the detox I’ve spoken with, I found myself wanting to default to old patterns of eating.

I could have cheese and crackers.
I know there’s clif bars in the cupboard.
I could have Avocado toast… which isn’t necessarily a poor choice, but it’s not detox food.

The trouble with making one of these choices, is that it makes us far more likely to make another poor choice… and another one… and another one.

Until we’re actually not doing the detox at all anymore.

Today’s video is about what I did instead.

  • The point of detoxing (p.s it’s NOT weight loss)

  • The surprising yet PERFECT fall detox food that flushes toxins from the body, regulates blood sugar, helps you feel fuller for longer, improves cholesterol, boosts immunity and facilitates lymphatic circulation

  • What Lymph has to do with detox

  • How FREAKING easy it is to prepare this powerhouse food

Detox doesn’t have to be hard. The point of an Ayurvedic detox, in fact, is completely the opposite. To make things feel easy.

To bring energy, restful sleep, healthy digestion, and a sense of overall mental ease to life.

How easy can it be?
