the weight of kapha keeps us grounded
KAPHA has the qualities of earth and water. This dosha governs your structure, and your tissue development, it’s the glue that holds your bones, muscles, and fat together. Kapha provides lubrication to your organ systems, protecting them. Kapha gives you strength, grounded compassion, and empathy.
Individuals with healthy amounts of Kapha are the most nourishing, caring humans on the planet.
Healthy Kapha-types are the kind of people you love to get a hug from and tell your deepest fears to. A Kapha woman is sturdy and reliable; your friends and loved ones can count on you.
Your ability to bring Pitta and Vata-type folks back down when we're freaking right out is a quality we all need more of.
Kapha's are the salt of the earth.
Kaphas are oh-so comforting, but it's possible to have too much of a good thing…
Ayurveda teaches that "Like Increases Like". Too much earth & water can leave you feeling stuck in the mud.
You might find yourself feeling unmotivated to reach your goals, as if the mountain is just too high to climb. Your physical & emotional "stuff" sits in piles around you, while you hear yourself repeat the phrase "I'll do it later" one more time.
The more grounded you are, the heavier you are (physically OR mentally). And Kaphas tend to hold weight in both arenas. The heavier you are, the harder it is for you to move.
The Struggles of KAPHA
IF YOU HAVE TOO MUCH KAPHA, YOU MIGHT BE STRUGGLING WITH:
easily gaining or holding weight
avoiding change
feeling unmotivated to get after your goals
unable to get out of bed in the morning

These struggles are markers of kapha imbalance, and left unchecked, lead to more serious complications. Long term Kapha imbalance commonly progresses into:
- Chronic congestion, sinus infections
- Type 2 diabetes, high blood sugar
- Obesity, edema, high cholesterol
- Fluid retention, lymphedema
- COPD, heavy chest and breathlessness
- Depression, hoarding, emotional numbness
